What is Meditation?
Meditation is stilling the body, calming the mind and opening the heart. It’s taking the mind off of the some odd 60,000 thoughts we have in a day and placing it on one thought….peace, love, freedom, joy or using a mantra.
It has been proven that meditation works even if you have no religous or spiritual basis. Of couse for me “making contact” with “inner space” and connecting to my Creator is my passion and has brought me to this point but please know that it is my mission to serve your needs, secular, religious or spiritual. It’s about YOU!
Getting comfortable is the 1st step in a successful meditation practice, if you not comfortable you’ll be thinking about your body as opposed to forgetting about it. On the floor or up in a chair…what ever works for you. Personally I sit up in a chair as I can go deeper this way.
There are many types of meditation and they all work if one practices them. The meditation that I teach is Ananda Meditation, brought to us in the USA in 1920 by Paramhansa Yogananda from India. He was an enlightened master and gave us the tools and techniques that were used by the ancient wise ones in India. Yoganandaji wrote “the Autobiography of a Yogi” which was voted one of the top 100 spiritual books of the 2oth century. You can find out more about him, his works and his legacy thru Swami Kriyananda, Ananda Village and the Expanding Light Center. http://www.expandinglight.org
Meditation continues to help free me from my personal prison of stress, anxiety and the cycle of repetitive drama and chaotic thoughts. I have seen it change lives and transform people. The key is a consistant daily practice and it doesn’t have to be hours of sitting in meditation but the more you practice it the more you will want to practice it…the results can be amazing.
