My Story

Ever since I can remember I have had two passions. The first was to create, design, paint, sew- whatever, I just love to make things and the second has been asking deep questions about God, the process of Creation and the nature of the Universe. My Mother loves to share her memories of my childhood by telling stories about me coming home from Sunday school and catechism with plenty of questions that no one could answer, always challenging the church. She also tells stories of how I played so well all by myself… always making things. All through school I excelled in anything artsy crafty. When I turned 16, my mother finally gave in. Understandably tired of the challenges I gave her regarding my attendance at Catholic Sunday mass and catechism. She decided she did all she could do as a good Catholic mother and I was now free to explore my own personal Spirituality. I was joyous and never felt so free and within a short period of time I read my 1st Edgar Cayce book. Mr. Cayce was known as the "Sleeping Prophet" his trance state communications were preserved and are available through The A.R.E. Foundation in Virginia Beach, VA. Well, that book actually had some answers to my questions that the ‘Church’ didn’t. It introduced me to metaphysics and the mysteries beyond the physical. Well, that was the beginning of my life’s passion as a seeker of higher Spiritual truths and the communication of those truths. I now had more questions and the journey continued.

I became known for being the girl who would whip up a new outfit for the party that night with a simple piece of fabric and without a pattern, I guess I was Divinely inspired. Working part time at a fabric store I began doing their displays and found another love, visual merchandising, the silent salesperson. So after high school I went to work for a large department store, I was hired in as an entry level display assistant. Within a short period of time I was an official ‘Display Artist” and eventually worked my way up to become one of the first female visual merchandising managers in the LA group of 26 stores. I had the time of my life doing displays in every department you can imagine, from being a “fashion display artist” to an interior designer. As a manager I had a staff of artists and engineers. Together we completely remodeled the store department by department, it was a great experience. All the while I was reading Spiritual books, taking courses in metaphysics, joining meditation and healing groups. I was learning to develop my personal connection to the Creator. I had a deep knowingness I was finally on the right track…getting some answers and asking lots more. The lessons and tests were hot and heavy. The less I listened to my intuition the worse it got. The more I trusted my intuition the smoother life was. Hmmmmmmm this was interesting.

I saw the VM industry changing and knew it was time to stretch myself so I continued my education in sales & marketing by consistently learning from the experts at seminars, workshops and retreats. People like Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins and The Summit Organization, just to name a few. I was surprised to learn that the similarities between the ‘success’ seminars and my Spiritual journey blended well. They both required taking personal responsibility for how we create our day, our week, our life. They both touched on how our thoughts and our belief systems manifest in our life as repetitive cycles and that we have the power within us to break free from old beliefs. That we could actually create the results we wanted by really working on ourselves. I began the work and amazing new people and new opportunities began to show up. Still there were lessons and tests. This was really an inside job.

I seized an unlikely opportunity with an international professional beauty company as a salon consultant with a territory in Orange County, CA. I awoke to a new world and man was it fun and I was quite good at it if I do say so myself. My sales excelled as I sold through education and superb service. I became proficient and was certified in presenting product knowledge classes, make-up artistry services and classes as well as Cellophane hair color classes as a certified technician for licensed professionals. I set up my customer’s retail areas using my VM experience and serviced it, they loved that. I hosted in salon programs for clients and staff. I also began a part time Image consulting practice, looking to take it into a full time business with a retail location. Loving life, I had the investor dollars and I was all ready to go when a health crisis came upon me and I was forced to look at my own mortality and decided that I loved what I did but enough was enough. The Harmonic Convergence was in full swing, Spirit had other plans for me so I sold almost everything I owned and moved to Tampa, Florida to begin something new. I graduated, yet the lessons just kept coming.

Looking to really expand my field of expertise or just because I’m a masochist I became a Series 7 and 63 licensed securities broker as well as a licensed life insurance agent. I was really outside my comfort zone but fortunately I decided to stick with it for quite a few years, successfully caring for a clientele of active retired adults. While I was in this position I formulated, coordinated and conducted public investment seminar Luncheons about 2 times a week to groups of 15 to 100 people. I designed newspaper ads and seminar invitations, initiated trade show participation, designed the company’s booth and the marketing brochure. I also met up with my Spiritual family in this most unlikely place of a brokerage firm. They introduced me to my Spiritual Teacher and I knew I was home again. This was a time of profound growth and discovery for me. Being connected to such a large group of people learning, praying, meditating and chanting together was such a great high. This is where I first laid my eyes on the \OM symbol and became obsessed with it, painting it, drawing it every chance I could. I was also introduced to Eastern philosophies, ancient Egyptian healing practices, the language of the Light (aka) Aramaic/Ancient Hebrew, the Star of David, the power of symbols, sacred geometry, the eyes being the window to the soul and so much more than I can mention here. I also met the love of my life, my beloved partner and husband Peter G` during this time. So, we are on the same path, our life is great and moving forward as planned. One day Pete gets an opportunity with a major Hair care manufacture offering him a South East territory based in Georgia and they will pay for the move, sounds adventurous doesn’t it? Well, basically we just got lost in the South for a couple of years. Sometimes I think I dreamt the whole GA thing but in truth it was an incredible test that I finally passed. I continued to dabble in financial planning and many different creative endeavors while in Georgia, all in all I just can’t stay away from the creative design stuff and I craved it more than ever. We were ready for a change, so off we go to sunny Arizona. Thank You God!

I learned Phoenix pretty well pounding the pavement selling yellow page advertising for a few months. Trust me, walking the streets going business to business in 117 degree heat is not a pleasant experience, I was melting and asked the Creator to please deliver me from this Hell and pretty soon another awesome opportunity presented itself to me as The Director of Sales & Marketing for a small personal care manufacturer. I worked directly with the owner, a PhD chemist and we created a wonderful line of personal skin care as well as a salon and spa service product line. They were new and innovative products. We manufactured and private labeled products for some very wonderful beauty companies. I was also blessed with the opportunity to help in fulfilling the owner’s dream of having an Asian themed Salon and Day Spa. I worked with a great team of people to create one of the most beautiful Salon & Spa’s with an extensive exclusive menu of services. The opportunity to create this was by far one of the high light experiences of my career. It was so much fun to create on this scale. It was also a beautiful feeling to offer such a Sacred Space for people to retreat, release stress and receive healing services. I was able to really connect to the teachings I learned by putting them into action. I met plenty of like minded others and was able to incorporate Spirituality into my work on a small scale, it felt so good and I needed more. Well, as you probably know…there is one constant in the Universe, change. I seem to be all about that.

So, I prayed and asked for guidance on what to do next and was given it over a period of several weeks, not what I expected but I am pretty open minded, I thought what have I got to lose? So I followed what I perceived to be instructions albeit strange instructions. They led up to me performing a sort of Spiritual prayer and meditation ceremony on New Years Day 2001, it incorporated a version of a medicine wheel and burying a few specific items. At the close of this ceremony I saw a beautiful Lavender beam of Light and at that moment I saw in my minds eye the word home using the OM symbol in place of the OM letters signifying the higher Home, Home with our Creator…a sort of Spiritual double entendre`. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it but I did receive some very clear instructions about how to use it through a communication of knowingness. Several months went by and I played around with some ideas on it but am still not sure what to do with the idea, I am still ready to move on. Life is talking to me.

So it is the crowning moment in everyone’s life when you say ‘I have to do this for myself, if I can do this for one company I bet I can consult for start ups and small companies. Armed with a belief in my self, a deep breath, my partners belief in me and his support ‘The Berkana Co., LLC ‘was birthed as ‘a creative consulting, ideas & design firm. The fun began. I assisted my clients on many levels, from tag lines to package design to writing copy for marketing literature to designing trade show booths. Inspiring them to move forward and calming their fears as they commit to a trade show or introduce a new product. I also performed retail area revamps in salons, spas and yoga studios. Business was good and getting better I was finally able to use all my learned diverse skills as well as focus on products, ideas and concepts that I truly felt good about. Life happened again. My sister and best friend Sharon was stricken with cancer. I dropped everything, stayed with her and took care of her for the next 5 weeks until she transitioned. Well, I was pretty devastated I went through my grief process and part of that process led me to where I am now. During my recluse I worked on my ideas and designs that have come forward since that New Years day of the Lavender Light. My passion is about touching hearts, helping people create Sacred Space within themselves and gifts that bless. My art is about reminding you to connect to your Source. Whatever you choose to label it. I Bless each piece and ask that it be infused with the Light of the Creator’s Energy. It then blesses everyone who gazes upon it. On and on it goes… the Blessings have begun and ‘In Sacred Space™’ was born. Just try it, get one of my prints or any other Sacred symbol or Spiritual reminder. Then everyday, every time you pass it or see it look at it and take a deep breath in. Connect to the Creator or at least plug into a place of peace, the more you do it – the more you’ll be it. I practice it in my own life and it works.
